Small Wonders: Celebrating the Beauty of Art on a Small Scale

Sometimes the most powerful experiences come in small packages. At The Hive Art Gallery in Currumbin, we’re embracing this idea with our upcoming exhibition, Small Wonders — a celebration of intimate, small-scale artworks that invite you to slow down, look closely, and discover the beauty in detail.

Opening on Saturday 7 March 2026, Small Wonders brings together artists from a wide range of backgrounds, styles, and disciplines, all working within the same modest format: 8 × 10 inches (20 × 25 cm). The result is a diverse and captivating collection that proves great art doesn’t need to be large to make an impact.

Why Small Matters

Smaller artworks ask something different of us as viewers. They draw us in, encouraging closer observation and quieter moments of reflection. In Small Wonders, each piece rewards attention — whether through fine detail, subtle mark-making, bold colour choices, or thoughtful composition.

From delicate and understated works to bold and expressive statements, the exhibition highlights how artists transform a limited surface into something extraordinary.

A Curated Exhibition with a Big Heart

Small Wonders is a curated exhibition that celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and imagination. By working within a shared scale, the focus shifts to the artist’s vision and technique, allowing each work to shine in its own way while forming part of a cohesive whole.

The exhibition will run from 7–22 March 2026, with an opening event on Saturday 7 March from 5–7pm. Visitors are warmly invited to join us for the opening night to meet the artists, explore the exhibition, and enjoy the gallery atmosphere.

Calling All Artists

Artists interested in taking part are invited to submit works created on 8 × 10 inch canvas or panel boards, in any medium or style. Submissions are open from 5 January, with entries closing on Sunday 22 February at 5pm.

Selected artworks must be delivered to the gallery on or before Tuesday 3 March, between 10am and 4pm.
