Exhibition 16-31 Aug - Tallebudgera Creek
A Celebration of Place: Tallebudgera Creek Opens at The Hive Art Gallery EXHIBITION CATALOGUE
The Hive Art Gallery in Currumbin Waters came alive with the colours, textures, and stories of Tallebudgera Creek as we officially opened our newest exhibition, A Celebration of Place Tallebudgera Creek. Running from 16–31 August 2025, this vibrant show brings together more than 35 Gold Coast and international artists whose work reflects the spirit, ecology, and magic of one of our region’s most beloved waterways.
From the first moments of the opening night, visitors were drawn into a rich conversation between art and place. The gallery buzzed with connection—locals, collectors, artists, and friends gathered to share in the unveiling of works that range from large-scale acrylics and contemporary frescoes to fibre art, watercolours, photography, and sculpture.
Art Inspired by Place
The exhibition explores Tallebudgera Creek through many lenses:
Sharnnie Licciardo’s Spirit of Jabreen offers a powerful, large-scale canvas honouring the Indigenous stories of the land.
Taya Lindner’s Connection: Tallebudgera Creek captures the personal resonance of the waterway in bold brushstrokes.
Leo Huyghebaert’s marquetry veneer series reimagines the creek’s wildlife with exquisite craftsmanship.
Anika Asplund’s Tallebudgera Valley Geomorphology layers science and art in sweeping forms.
Olivia Alexander’s Rising Tides and Tallebudgera Vibes shimmer with mixed media textures and gold leaf.
From delicate works such as Nikki Rogers’ Eucalypt and Gumnuts to the commanding energy of Iguarnieri’s fresco Seascape Tallebudgera Morning, each piece tells a story of connection to land, water, and memory.
A Community Gathering
Our opening celebration was captured across our Instagram and Facebook pages, where you can glimpse the warmth of the night—the conversations, the laughter, and of course, the art. Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and online to celebrate the artists and this very special place.
