Live @ the Hive 21 March
Saturday evening, 21 March 5-7pm
How wonderful it was to see the Hive Art Gallery transform into a living studio filled with the energy of the Autumn Equinox marking a moment of balance, transition and reflection through art.
Timed with the seasonal shift, the event celebrated the changing light, cooler air and the grounding rhythm that comes with the arrival of Autumn. We shared intermate conversations and moments with our wonderful artists, friends of the gallery, and our Currumbin art family.
Unlike a traditional exhibition opening, this was art in action. Five artists worked live in the space, inviting guests into their creative process with brushstrokes unfolding in real time, ideas forming on canvas, and the quiet intensity of a shared experience. Guests were able to witness the creative process unfold in real time, watching ideas, gestures, colours and forms emerge before their eyes.
Visitors moved through the gallery not just as observers, but as participants in the atmosphere, pausing, watching, asking questions, and connecting directly with the artists as their works evolved.
As the Hive Art Gallery buzzed, our 6 artists, shared their energy, thoughts and processes, creating a series of beautiful pieces in that moment, and the magic happened. Five unique, personal approaches.
The concept behind Live @ the Hive centres on this immediacy: creativity not as a finished product, but as a living, breathing process. It’s about witnessing the moments in between—the decisions, the adjustments, the unexpected turns that bring a work to life.
Live @ the Hive: Autumn Equinox was more than an event. It was an experience of being present. A reminder to slow down, observe closely, and reconnect with the creative rhythms that surround us.
And as autumn settles in, it sets the tone for what’s ahead at The Hive: a season of deeper engagement, thoughtful creation, and continued connection.
We hope you will join us again soon.
