Roz Perugino – Ceramics Inspired by the Coast
Let There Be Light may celebrate the beauty of light and contrast, but the exhibition also provides an opportunity to discover the beautiful ceramic work of Currumbin-based artist Roz Perugino.
Roz’s collection brings the colours, textures and organic forms of our coastal environment into the gallery. Her Palm Beach Reef Series features beautifully crafted vases and platters in ocean-inspired blues and greens, while her Sandy Beach Series draws on the softer, earthy tones of sand and shoreline. Standout pieces such as the sculptural Aqua Sea Coral Fruit Bowl demonstrate Roz’s love of allowing the natural qualities of clay to guide form and texture.
Created through Perugino Pottery, Roz’s work celebrates the beauty of the handmade. Each piece carries subtle variations created through shaping, glazing and firing, ensuring that no two works are quite the same.
Both functional and decorative, these ceramics are made to be enjoyed—not simply displayed. From generous serving platters and bowls to smaller vessels, Roz creates pieces that bring a little of our beautiful Gold Coast environment into the everyday.
Roz’s collection is currently available at The Hive Art Gallery, Currumbin, as part of Let There Be Light, on exhibition until 10 September.
